2009/07/25: Maharajas

Probably one of the most-anticipated battle in the whole Cricbay group: Champs v/s Maharajas. Here are a few comments prior to the game in Cricbox article:

by Anal (Spartans)
Maharajas who are o n a roll this season were jolted from their 10 game winning streak as Dazzlers sneaked through a 1 run victory last weekend. What this did is believe it or not placed Maharajas in a spot where in if they lose the game this weekend they will be battling to get in the Platinum round of 16. Knowing and having played the very competitive Maharajas I am sure they would not like to see their fates being decided by DRR. Champs o n the other hand would love to secure their spot for the Platinums in this match itself instead of leaving it to the last match against Dazzlers. These 2 teams have played each other twice and have a 1-1 record, itll be interesting to see who comes up trumps in this crucial game.

Champ X1 Vs Mahararas will be very interesting...
The kind Bowling Maharajas has,it very hard to bat especially o n their home ground. Pitch is very bouncy(its Perth pitch of bay area).Anything above 50 is a good score for both team to defend with kind bowling both team has..
God luck guys ,may the best team win ..)

This is going to be the game of the week (ChampsXI vs Maharajas).
Never played against Maharajas but can say 10 win in a row doesnt look that easy. Champs XI have good bowling depth and have some good hitters who can easily clear the ground. I believe who ever is going to bat first really have an edge to win this game.
Good luck guys.

So finally on a chilly Saturday morning the battle began with Maharajas winning the toss and elected to chase.

Finally a note from Amit from Maharajas:
Champs XI played really well today against us (Maharajas), and they deserve the win. We were on target till 10 overs, restricting them to 28 runs, but then they lashed out, and made 87. Our batting just collapsed, and ended up making just 44 runs. Overall, it was a great game, and Champs XI deserve the win.

Thanks to all for the wishes and lovely comments in the Cricbox article. I would like to add one last point to that comment to Amit's assessment:
"In the first 10 overs we had only 28 runs on the board but most importantly FOR NO LOSS."

A plan well thought out and well executed ;)
